Public Engagement Assistant (Freelance)
The Tim Stead Trust is looking for a warm, practical and engaged freelance Public Engagement Assistant to
support public access to The Steading during this summer’s pilot programme period.
The role will include welcoming visitors, supporting and delivering guided tours, gallery staffing, event support, opening and closing routines, ticket checks, condition reporting, tour promotion, social media updates and visitor feedback.
We are looking for someone who enjoys people, place, stories and detail. You do not need to be an expert in Tim Stead’s work, but you should be curious, thoughtful and willing to learn. You will be warm and confident with visitors, practical and reliable, comfortable working alone and with small groups, sensitive to historic spaces and objects, clear in communication, and able to take direction. Experience in visitor welcome, tours, galleries, museums, heritage sites, workshops or exhibitions would be useful, but is not essential.
Training will be provided and is likely to include learning about Tim Stead, The Steading, the Trust and public programme, followed by tour training and shadowing. The role will be supported by the Director throughout the 12 week period.
