The Steading - A Masterpiece and a Home

The Steading in Blainslie, Scottish Borders, is widely recognised as Tim Stead’s greatest work, a house transformed from ordinary agricultural buildings into a singular wooden interior environment, entirely designed and made by Stead himself. Today it is a Category A listed building, in process of being preserved for the nation and open to visitors through curated tours and programmes.

Here, you can see how craft, imagination and place intersect, from exquisite furniture to carved fittings, structural elements and sculptural landscapes.

CATEGORY A LISTED

Venue Hire

The Tim Stead Trust offers a limited number of venue hire opportunities at The Steading for activities that align with our values, scale and purpose.

The Steading is not a conventional events venue. It is a Category A listed building and a site of national cultural significance. Any use of the space must respect its fabric, setting and ethos.

For this reason, venue hire is selective and purpose-led. If you would like to explore whether your activity might be suitable, we are happy to have an initial conversation.
